Panathinaikos came back to victories, after prevailing over Panionios 1-0 in “Apostolos Nikolaidis” stadium for the fifth match day of the Super League Greece play offs, thanks to one more goal scored by Sebastian Leto in this competition.
The team of Andrea Stramaccioni climbed to the second place of the scoreboard and the team will play the last game of the season against PAOK in Thessaloniki. If Panathinaikos wins there, it will gain the first place of this “mini – Championship”…
Besides Leto, a special allusion should be made to Petric, as well, as this was the last game of his career in front of Panathinaikos’ fans, who glamorized him at the end of the match. Just before the kick off, the president of the “Green” FC, Giannis Alafouzos, awarded the Croatian striker!
Everything from … zero
Panathinaikos lined up with several changes in its roster, though at least in the first half of the match -and besides some good moments with Leto -mainly- and with Abeid who were starring – the team was unable to transform this home game and the ball possession into something … more than that.
On the opposite, the guest team tried to play with counterattacks and had two opportunities to be the first to score a goal at the beginning and at the end … of the first half, but … Moledo in an immediate action protected Steel’s goalposts.
Seba … “saved the day”!
On the second half, Leto was again the man in charge of … spurring the “Shamrock” and lead the team’s initiative to score the desirable goal which, according to the match, seemed to be enough to offer the three points to the scoring team
After his intention was made clear to Yianniotis, in the 50th minute, the Argentinean ace find the way to score in the 78th minute. He concluded his effort in a flawless way, after being in the right position at the right moment. Some moments earlier, “awarded” Petric passed the ball to him.
Earlier, of course, Stramaccioni took good care and reshuffled his roster by changing both his players and this system of play, by launching Klonarides initially and then Boumale. The formation 4-4-2 in a rhombus shape, became a 4-2-3 -1. The result was that Panathinaikos increased its pressure and avoided hard moments, till the end of the match.
