FC Panathinaikos announces the acquisition of Nuno Reis. The Portuguese footballer has signed a contract with our team until summer 2019. We welcome him into the family of the “Shamrock”.

Nuno Miguel Pereira Reis -as this is his full name- was born on January 31, 1991 in Murten, Switzerland, to Portuguese immigrants. He joined the academies of Sporting Lisbon in 2003, while previously he started playing football for Vasco da Gama.

During his stay with Sporting, he won eight titles-including five national championships- being a member of the team which won three consecutive championships, wearing the captain’s armband during the last year.

After graduating from the Academies of Sporting, Reis went on loan to Cercle Brugge, along with his teammate Renato Neto. During his first season in Belgium, he played 32 times -all of them as a start up player- and scored one goal. He played 24 times during the second season. In 2012 he went again on loan to Olhanense, wearing the team’s shirt in 21 matches.

This 25 year old ace returned to Sporting second team for five months before “moving” back to Cercle Brugge, in January 2014. He played there 12 times, until he was released from Sporting to join Metz, for which he played in 27 games.

Reis was the captain of Portugal U20, the finalist of the 2011 World Cup. He participated in all the games which took place in Colombia. He has also played for the younger echelons of his country.
