Panathinaikos was inferior to the occasion at the Panthessaliko Stadium, where they lost 3–2 to Kifissia for the third matchday of the Super League.
Kifissia, who threatened for the first time in the 5th minute with Pombo, opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a Tetteh shot after a pass from Villafañes.
The Greens reacted, won a penalty after Djuricic was brought down by Simon, and equalized (1–1) in the 15th minute through a successful spot-kick by Swiderski. The Shamrock could have scored a second time in the 17th minute with Mancini, in the 21st with Djuricic and in the 36th with Sánchez, but in all three cases the ball went wide.
The second half began with Mancini threatening again in the 49th minute before Ramírez caught the ball. The Greens completed the turnaround in the 53rd minute when, after a cross from Kyriakopoulos, Kifisia’s goalkeeper failed to hold on to the ball and Swiderski, who was lurking, pushed it into the net for 1–2.
Despite overturning the score and having the momentum on their side, the Greens could not hold on to their lead. In the 79th minute, after an individual move and assist by Tetteh, Pantelidis equalized (2–2), while in stoppage time (90+4’) Souza with a powerful shot made it 3–2 in favor of Kifissia.
