FC Panathinaikos announces the acquisition of Bernard! The Brazilian star has signed a two year contract with Panathinaikos.

Bernard Anicio Caldeira Duarte, as his full name is, was born on the 8th of September 1992 in the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte. The new player of Panathinaikos started his career in Atletico Mineiro CF and from an early age he became the talk of the town due to his talent, his outstanding technique, his quick and smart thinking and acting as well as his ability to play both as a winger in  the middle line  and as a play maker. When he was 20 he was called to the “Seleçao”, the national team of Brazil, as a token of his value and for winning Copa Libertadores with Atletico Mineiro!

In 2013 he “obliged” Shakhtar Donetsk to “spend” 25 million euros for his skills. He played immediately at the Champions League competitions and during his first season there he won the Ukrainian championship. In the end of that season he was called to the national team and competed in the 2014 World Cup finals, held in his homeland, where he played as a starting lineup player in the “bitter”, (due to the heavy defeat) semifinals between Brazil and Germany. He participated in 14 matches with the “Seleçao” scoring one goal.

He stayed with Shakhtar for five years and had the joy to celebrate three championships and three Cups and Super Cups. During his stay in Ukraine he was much appreciated and loved by the fans for his achievements!

In 2018 the greatest championship of the world, the Premier League, opened its doors for Bernard: Everton FC acquired him and he immediately became a starting lineup player of that team from Liverpool. He played in the UK during three years, till the day he received a proposal from Sharjah FC in the UAE, a team in which he use to play till last season.

We welcome Bernard into Panathinaikos’ family!
