Panathinaikos FC announces the transfer of Fotis Ioannidis to Sporting Lisbon.

Fotis joined Panathinaikos in 2020 from Levadiakos at the age of just 20, as one of the most talented footballers of his generation. His development was rapid and exemplary. From his second season, he was already the team’s starting striker and played a decisive role in winning the Greek Cup in 2022, as his goals in the semifinals led the team to the final. In 2023, he signed a new contract with the club, took the captain’s armband, and essentially became the team leader.

This was followed by a dream season with 23 goals in all competitions, which made him a key striker for the Greek national team and highly sought after in Europe’s top leagues. He eventually stayed at Panathinaikos, signing a new contract in November 2024. The captain recorded 190 appearances, scoring 51 goals for Panathinaikos in all competitions.

Fotis, we wish you best of luck in your career. You arrived as a promising youngster, became a starter, an irreplaceable player, captain, a chant from the stands, and a youth idol. Until we meet again captain!
