Panathinaikos FC announces the signing of Pedro Chirivella from French team Nantes! The 28-year-old Spanish midfielder has signed a two-year contract and becomes the third addition to the squad for the new season.

Pedro Chirivella was born on May 23, 1997, in Valencia, Spain. He began his football journey at Valencia’s academy, and as one of the top talents in the defensive midfield position and captain of Spain’s U17 team, he was quickly spotted by Liverpool scouts. The Reds spent €2.3 million to sign him at the age of 16. Chirivella played for Liverpool’s U18 and U21 teams before making his debut with the first team in September 2015 in a Europa League match against Bordeaux. He remained with the senior squad and featured in FA Cup matches until making his Premier League debut on May Day 2016 against Swansea.

The first shift in his career came in January 2017 when he was loaned to Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles, where he was a regular starter in nearly all matches. In the 2017–18 season, he stayed in the Netherlands, again as a regular starter at Willem II. In the summer of 2018, he returned to Liverpool and was loaned out to Extremadura in January, though he didn’t play due to a registration issue with the Spanish federation. Nevertheless, he continued training with the club. The 2019–20 season was his last at Liverpool, where he made appearances in the League Cup and FA Cup.

In 2020, he became a free agent player and Nantes seized the opportunity to sign him. The confidence they showed from day one gave him the boost he needed. A regular starter from his arrival in the French city, he spent five years at Nantes, making 173 appearances, scoring 4 goals, and providing 9 assists. He also won the Coupe de France in 2022. In recent years, Chirivella wore the captain’s armband for Nantes — a testament to his leadership on the pitch.

We welcome Pedro into Panathinaikos’ family!
