With an explosive, full and dominating performance, Panathinaikos ideally started its duties in the Stoiximan Super League. The Greens were outstanding on their domestic debut and cruised to a comprehensive 3-0 win over Volos in Leoforos thanks to goals from Cerin, Ioannidis and Verbic showing early in the new season that they will again play a leading role.

A few days after the first match against Braga and before the crucial second leg for the Champions League play offs, Ivan Jovanovic and his players handled the situation superbly. They scored three goals, took the three points, played good and productive football, created many chances and at the same time managed ahead of the decisive replay at OAKA next Tuesday (29/8). Aitor made his reappearance in the Greek league after ten months of absence, while Palmer Brown also made his debut.
