Panathinaikos FC took advantage of the home leg as he fought for a hard-earned win in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie, against Club Brugge with 2-1.

The Greens were left behind in the score only on the 10th minute, had a missed penalty with Berg on 34’ and saw Sanchez being sent off with a red card, one minute before half time.

Nevertheless, Panathinaikos found the courage and the solutions first to equalize, with Berg on the 37th minute and eventually to take the win, thanks to a goal from Karelis, from the penalty spot, on 65’.

Now, the qualification to the next round will be decided in the second leg, in Jan Breydel Stadium, next Wednesday (05/08).
