Combining its performance in the derby with an extremely bad appearance, Panathinaikos stayed even further from the top of the championship scoreboard after losing 3-0 from Olympiakos in an away match. The score was already configured before the pause of the first half.

From its kick off the game was very impulsive from both teams; the rhythm of competition was missing and hard markings were prevailing.

The opportunity Leto lost in the 20th minute was maybe the most crucial moment for the evolution of the game. The Argentinean was sprinting alone after a vertical cross by Villafañes, but he was stopped by Botia, who one minute later opened the score by a header which followed a corner executed by Fortounis.

What was coming next was even worst for Panathinaikos. Without being able to threat they seemed to be rather assailable in the defense letting many spaces exposed. The hosting team took advantage of this situation and in the 26th minute transformed a counterattack into a second goal, scored by Elyounoussi. The “evil” was completed one minute before the end of the first half, as Inteye, by a header again, after a set piece (this time in a foul) configured the final score.

In the second half Panathinaikos won some spaces on the pitch threatening his opponent, but without succeeding to score a goal, which could put the team back into the game through the very few chances they created.

The most “typical” of all was, of course, a penalty whistled in favor of Villafañes, in the 59th minute, misguidedly executed by Ledesma, who sent the ball out a minute later
