In the very day the Club was celebrating its 110th anniversary, since it was found in 1908, the team of Panathinaikos couldn’t mark the occasion with a victory and remained in a 0-0 draw against Panetolikos, in a game held at “Apostolos Nicolaidis” stadium for the 20th match day for Super League Greece championship.

The duel rolled in a low tempo, generally speaking, and the “Greens” couldn’t impose a worthy rhythm that could help the creation of good chances in front of Kyriakidis goalposts, in their home match. Once more Marinos Ouzounidis was obliged to proceed with various changes in its team’s starting lineup, affecting the homogeneity and the automation of the team. Three of the footballers that played (Kace, Mystakidis and Bouzoukis) debuted in the championship wearing the jersey of Panathinaikos. If in all that one adds the loss of Kourbelis’ services due to an injury and the standard “missing” of strikers, one can easily understand the lack of rhythm and chances. A shoot by Donis in the first 20 minutes, after a mistake of Rodriguez, was actually the unique offensive initiative taken by the “Shamrock” during the first half. The guest team will of course remember the shoot of Morar, in a free kick, that hit the “Green” crossbar in the 16th minute.

In the second half, the entrance of Mystakidis gave a relief to Panathinaikos’ offensive line, though the “Greens” couldn’t transform it into a chance. Panetolikos, in the contrary, had important chances with Klesio, Marinakis and Morar; the good positioning of Economou and Johansson in two occasions and – mainly – Vlachodimos’ saves, couldn’t transform these initiatives into goals. The most important of them was the reaction of the Green goalie in a confrontation he had with his ex-teammate, Marinakis. The “Greens” became aggressive again towards the end of the duel, though the great chance of Mystakidis in the 89th minute was blocked by Kyriakidis, who kept his goalposts intact. The nil-all draw remained unchanged till the end of the duel and Panathinaikos missed the opportunity to get closer to the fifth place and celebrate the Club’s anniversary with a victory.
