In spite of too many absences the Greens were excellent and started the New Year in the best way winning the team of Aris Thessaloniki by 2-0 with goals scored by Palacios and Aitor.  This precious victory levelled the team in the fourth place of the Super League Interwetten board, having the postponed match against Apollon Smyrnis still to be played

Panathinaikos entered the match with passion and will to gain it. The first goal came rather early, in the 14th minute, as Juankar moved the ball to Aitor who passed it to Palacios who shot twice. His first ball fronted on Cuesta’s body but he gained the rebound and sent the ball into their rival’s net. During the whole first half the Greens had 7 final efforts and were very close to score one more goal. The Shamrock entered the second half in the same offensive way looking to score. This was finally achieved in the 83rd minute as Palacios passed the ball to Aitor, who shot straight into Aris’ goalposts, ending the game by achieving an important victory 2-0.
