A significant and widespread victory (4-2) was obtained by the youngsters of Panathinaikos over their “counterparts” of AEK at “G. Kalafatis”.

A great victory thanks to an inversion of the score was achieved by the U20 team of Panathinaikos imposed over the equivalent team of AEK 4-2, for the postponed 11th match day of Super League’s U20 Championship, in a game realized at the sports center of the team in Koropi.

The final score fully reflects the image of the game which was dominated by the youngsters of Panathinaikos, being superior and creating numerous opportunities. The variation, however, was impressive as it had two overthrows which gave a very dramatic and special interest to the match. It is also characterized by the fact that in the pause the guest team was winning 1-2.

The score opened too early and specifically in the 3rd minute for the young “Greens” thanks to direct free kick by Bouzoukis. Then, the hosts had other opportunities as well and controlled the match, while AEK was limited to counterattacks. However, in just two minutes before the break the guests showed their ability to completely reverse the score! In the 43rd and 44th minutes by Antoniou and Vlachomitros by a shoot and a bicycle kick respectively made the score 1-2.

This fact did not discourage the young players of Panathinaikos who entered in the second part well determined to play their game and to reverse the situation. They did it! This started by a terrible shot from Angelopoulos in the 68th minute, far outside the box which found the crossbar before going into the net for the equalizer.

Then the next move was “dictated” by Xepapadakis, who entered as a substitute in the 71st minute … and entered into action. In the 74th minute he shot aptly after Pispas assisted and scored for the 3-2. Almost immediately after, in the 75th minute he shot from outside the box, beating the opponent goalkeeper and thus forming the final score 4-2. Although the “Greens” had more chances until the end of the game, the score remained unchanged.

Thus, Panathinaikos achieved his second consecutive victory, going on “running” to catch Olympiakos who conceded a draw in Platanias. The difference in points between the two teams was reduced to 6 points.
