Although Panathinaikos was much more concentrated and combative in comparison to other away games, the team didn’t make it and left Tripolis beaten due to a goal scored by Munafo in the 86th minute, in a game held at “Th. Kolokotronis” stadium, for the 10th match day of the Super League Greece championship.

The “Greens” entered the duel dynamically and wanted to change the impression they were giving of starting the away championship games in a rather idle way. So, they entered the duel strongly trying to press Asteras high taking the game close to their rival’s box. During the whole first period the “Greens” were controlling the game being superior to their opponent without being threatened. Nevertheless, their attacks were rather poor. A header and a shoot by Molins in the box and a nice move by Hiljemark in the back of the opponent’s defense, without success, were the highlights of the “Shamrock” in the first half. From its side, Asteras, wasn’t really threatening Vlachodimos’ goalposts, besides a strike from the left wing and a shoot which was blocked by the Green goalie during the extra time.

In the second half Panathinaikos had to proceed into a forced substitution as Johansson replaced Coulibaly. The team continued in the same rhythm. Moledo failed in a bicycle shoot to score from the penalty box in the 52nd minute. After the 60th minute Asteras introduced in the pitch both Godo and Madida and tried to be more aggressive in its counterattacks. In the 64th minute the first was stopped by Vlachodimos in a confrontation after a “solo” counterattack. Panathinaikos reacted in the 72nd minute by Lod who lost an almost man to man confrontation with Athanassiadis, after a nice attack from the left side. Following that confrontation the rhythm was reduced and the game was going rather to a draw. However, Munafo, after shooting a corner in the 86th minute and after a head by Iglesias, in the first post, moved alone towards the second post and shot the winning goal for the team of Asteras. This was the final score as Panathinikos was not able to react and left the pitch losing in Tripolis (1-0). This way the “Greens” remained with no victory in one more away match for the championship, after five games in the first ten match days.
