Panathinaikos FC says farewell to the veteran midfielder Giannis Papantoniou who played with the postwar team of Panathinaikos in 1945 and honored with his personality and his talent our Club and the National Team of Greece.

Born in 1928, Giannis Papantoniou had a rich football talent and high technique. He was loved by the fans and by his teammates. Along with Nikos Simos, Matthew Vitali and other aces, he made Panathinaikos a great team of that era and won two Championships and two Greek Cups.

For the National team, he played 15 times. His debut was in 1948.

The last goodbye to Giannis Papantoniou will be tomorrow at 15:00 at Zografou Cemetary in Athens.
