The season came to an end and Panathinaikos’ players “wrote” a victorious epilogue in the duel against OFI. This was a peculiar season due to the three month pause because of the pandemic and thus the calendar had to show the 19th of July as the very day for the end of the championship.  In the match held in the Olympic stadium both teams competed without any … scoreboard stress! They offered a nice show, mainly during the first half. The “Greens” won 3-2 and got the three points.

The hosts opened the score in the 26th minute with Uffe Bech who did a nice shoot from the box, after a pass received from Kourbelis. This was the first goal scored by the Dane midfielder wearing Panathinaikos’ jersey. The reaction of the guests was immediate as two minutes later they scored the equalizer with Figuereido. The Shamrock led the score again with Macheda in the 35th minute. The Italian striker sent the ball into Waillie’s goalposts, from a short distance, as the later did a very unstable save at a ball shot by Chatziyiovannis, from the right. The “dance with the goals” continued and in the 37th minute Vaz scored a second goal for OFI (2-2). Though the “Greens” were the ones to say the last word, in the first half: Macheda went on from the left side, after a duel, shot to the second post and Chatziyiovannis scored easily the third goal for the “Greens”

The image in the second half had nothing to do with the one in the first half.  Both teams created few opportunities but the last minute’s hero was Vasilis Xenopoulos. The guests were awarded a penalty in the fifth minute of the additional time after the ball touched the hand of Kolovetsios. Figuereido was the player to execute the penalty but the young Panathinaikos’ goalie saved the ball impressively! As a matter of fact this was the second penalty he stopped in a match consecutively. The first one was in the game against Aris. The final curtain for this season’s championship went down for Panathinaikos after this victorious 3-2.
