Panathinaikos continued their winning run in the Super League. After victories over Levadiakos and PAOK, the Greens made it three in a row against Kifisia and climbed to the top of the table. Jacob Neestrup’s side were superior, created numerous chances and showed character when the going got tough, earning a thoroughly deserved 3-1 victory.
The Greens came close to opening the scoring before ten minutes had elapsed, creating a triple chance in the eighth minute. Andino was initially denied by Ramirez, before Levi tried his luck but failed to find the target. Andino then regained possession and fired another shot, only for the Kifisia defence to clear the ball behind for a corner. In the 15th minute, Kangwa threatened with a low, long-range drive that flashed narrowly wide of the right post.
Kifisia slowed the tempo of the game, preventing the Greens from creating clear-cut goalscoring opportunities despite enjoying the lion’s share of possession and controlling proceedings. Nevertheless, Taborda threatened with a header in first-half stoppage time (45+1’), but Jolybois intervened to turn the ball behind for a corner.
Jacob Neestrup’s players emerged for the second half determined to find an early goal—and they did just that. In the 53rd minute, Andino produced a superb individual run, burst into the penalty area and laid the ball off to Kangwa, who guided a perfectly placed finish into the corner of Ramirez’s net. It was his first goal in Panathinaikos colours.
The Greens continued to apply pressure and, during another dangerous attack, Jolybois brought down Levi García just outside the penalty area. He was shown a second yellow card, leaving Kifisia with ten men.
In the 70th minute, Taborda struck the woodwork twice. Although the ball appeared to have crossed the goal line following his first effort, the goal was not awarded even after a VAR check. Instead of Panathinaikos doubling their lead, Kifisia equalised against the run of play in the 74th minute through Theodoridis after the Greens failed to clear the danger.
Panathinaikos’ response, however, was immediate and emphatic. In the 76th minute, Taborda fired towards goal and Antonisse handled the ball on the goal line to keep it out. The VAR alerted the referee, who conducted an on-field review and awarded the clear penalty. The Argentinian stepped up to take it and restored Panathinaikos’ lead in the 81st minute (2-1), scoring for the third consecutive match.
The victory was sealed in the first minute of stoppage time, when Calabria delivered an excellent cut-back and Rastoder applied the perfect finish to complete the scoring at 3-1.
