FC Panathinaikos announces the acquisition by transfer from FC Sporting Lisbon of the Slovenian striker Andraz Sporar. The player’s contract with Panathinaikos expires in 2026.

Andraz Sporar was born on the 27th of February 1994 in Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital. He started his career with FC Interblock, becoming a player of FC Olimpija Ljubljana at the age of 18 and being its “serial scorer”! In January 2016 he was transferred to FC Bale, Switzerland. Although he played for the championship and for the cup with Bale, he experienced some adaptation difficulties and 1,5 year later he went on loan to Arminia Bielefeld. He was finally transferred to the Slovak Slovan Bratislava in 2018.

Andraz made outstanding appearances there (29 goals during 2018-19 – top scorer for the championship of that season and 12 in the first half of 2019-20 season). In January 2020 he moved to Portugal for Sporting Lisbon. In this fourth journey abroad, to the “Portuguese Lions”, Sporar started ideally the season scoring 6 goals in 16 games and celebrating the championship. During the second season and as he was not a starting lineup player in January 2021 he went on loan to FC Braga and won the Portuguese Cup. In summer 2021 he was loaned to Middlesbrough FC where he played in 35 matches scoring 8 goals for the Championship.

Sporar is a starting lineup player of Slovenia’s national team, having played in 39 matches and scoring 5 goals.

We welcome Andraz to Panathinaikos!
