Panathinaikos FC announces the “coming back home” of the Argentinean offensive midfielder Lucas Villafañez. The 28 year old player will be wearing again Panathinaikos’ jersey after 2,5 years of absence, since 2018. He signed a two year contract with our Club.

Villafañez was born in the Argentine city of Comodoro Rivadavia, on the 4th of October 1991. He did his first steps as a player in C.A.I., the team of his native city!  In 2010 he went on loan to C.A. Independiente, which bought his rights a year later. The next step in his career was the team of Huracán to which he went on loan in 2013.

In summer 2014 he came to Greece, for the first time, for the team of Panaitolikos, Agrinio. He played for that team till January 2016 and then was transferred to Panathinaikos. He remained with the “Greens” for two years, playing in 73 games and scoring 10 goals in all competitions. The winning goal scored against Olympiakos, in 2017, will remain deeply engraved in our memories. Villafañez was also one of the most important players of the team which competed in Europa League’s competitions for 2016/17 season.

In mid-2017/18 season he was transferred to the Turkish team of Alanyaspor and since July 2019 he was playing for Club Atletico Morelia, in Mexico.

We welcome Lucas back into Panathinaikos’ family!
